Our giant draughts is £55 to hire (£37 for a second day). The board is a 3m x 3m mat, and the black and white counters are about a foot across, so two players walk round the board and move the pieces by hand.
How much room does it need?
The mat is 3m x 3m, about 10ft square, so allow a bit more round the edge for the players and anyone watching. It goes outside on grass, where we peg the corners down, or indoors on a hall floor. It doesn't need power.
Who is it for?
Anyone who knows the rules, and it's quick to teach the ones who don't. Because it's slower than our other games, it works well at weddings, christenings and summer garden parties, where the grown-ups want something to do as well as the children.
