Access, Doorways & Delivery Routes
At Best Party Hire, safe access is just as important as having the right space. This page explains what access is needed for delivery and setup, plus the extra checks required for indoor venues.
General Access Routes
We need a clear, safe route from our vehicle to the setup area.
The route must:
Be free from obstacles
Be wide enough for rolled inflatables
Allow equipment to move without lifting over hazards
Please make sure the route is:
Clear of furniture, bins, toys, or garden items
Not blocked by vehicles
Safe to walk on (not muddy, slippery, or unstable)
Gates & Narrow Access Points
If access is through a gate or side passage, check:
The narrowest point (including frames)
That gates open fully
There are no low overhangs or tight turns
Most standard gates are fine, but very narrow or awkward access may prevent equipment fitting through.
If unsure:
Measure the narrowest point
Send photos before booking
Steps, Slopes & Level Changes
Access should ideally be flat, level, and step-free.
Tell us in advance if there are:
Steps
Steep slopes
Raised thresholds
Uneven paths
These can affect whether equipment can be moved safely.
Parking & Vehicle Access
We need reasonable parking close to the setup area.
Please ensure:
Legal parking is available
Restrictions are considered
Access is not blocked by other vehicles
If you have:
Limited parking
Restricted access times
Controlled entry points
Tell us before booking.
Delivery Vehicle Access
Our vehicle must be able to:
Reach the property or venue
Stop close enough to unload
Exit safely
Let us know if there are:
Narrow lanes
Barriers or bollards
Restricted access times
Controlled gates or entry systems
Venues & Organised Events
For halls, schools, or events:
Confirm delivery times
Unlock doors and gates on arrival
Give clear unloading directions
Any special venue rules must be shared in advance.
On-the-Day Access
On the day:
Access must be clear at the agreed time
Gates and doors must be unlocked
Parking must be available
If we cannot access the area safely due to undisclosed issues, we may be unable to set up and normal cancellation terms may apply.
Indoor Bookings – Extra Requirements
Ceiling Height
Each inflatable has a minimum height listed on its product page.
For indoor use:
Ceiling height must meet or exceed the listed height
Measure from the floor to the lowest fixed point
If the height is even slightly too low, setup cannot go ahead.
Beams, Lights & Fixtures
Check for:
Low beams or cross-beams
Hanging or pendant lights
Ceiling fans
Pipes, heaters, or ducting
All of these reduce usable height.
Door Widths & Indoor Access
Most items fit through standard doors, but larger inflatables may need:
Wider doorways
Fewer tight turns
Clear corridors
Before booking, check:
Narrowest doorway (including frame)
Corners or tight hallways
Steps or thresholds
If equipment cannot move safely through the venue, setup cannot go ahead.
Fire Exits & Fixed Features
Indoor setups must not:
Block fire exits
Obstruct emergency routes
Press against walls or pillars
The required space must remain completely clear.
We strongly recommend:
Measuring ceiling height to the lowest obstruction
Measuring door widths
Checking the full access route
Taking photos if unsure
Send details to us and we’ll happily advise.
Common Indoor Problems
Worth double-checking:
Sports hall roof beams
Village hall hanging lights
Low stage fronts
Narrow store-room doors
Fold-down basketball hoops
These are the most common reasons indoor setups fail.
Why Access Rules Matter
These rules help us:
Keep people safe
Avoid damage
Stay on schedule
Meet safety and insurance rules
If access or height is unsuitable on arrival and wasn’t discussed in advance, we may be unable to set up and normal cancellation terms may apply.
Unsure About Access or Height?
If you’re not sure:
Measure narrow points and ceiling height
Take photos

We’re always happy to check and help you plan a safe, smooth setup.
