What Happens If It’s Windy?
Windy weather is the main reason a party may not be able to go ahead as planned. Unfortunately, in England, the weather can change from week to week, and if the wind is too strong, we may have to cancel an outdoor inflatable hire.
Fortunately, we find this doesn’t happen too often, and when it does, we can normally offer something different, move the equipment indoors if a suitable venue is available, or arrange a different date.
How We Monitor Wind Speeds for Safe Inflatable Hire
According to the HSE, “No inflatable should be used in winds above 24mph (38kmph), which is Force 5 on the Beaufort Scale (small trees in leaf begin to sway).” The HSE also recommends the use of an anemometer rather than relying on a smartphone weather application.
As you can imagine, a forecast of 24mph in an open field can be very different to the actual wind speed in a sheltered garden surrounded by fences and houses. This is why we use an anemometer to measure the wind speed at the actual location of the inflatable.
What Happens If the Wind Is Too High?
If the winds are too high and it is unsafe to use the inflatable, even after checking the conditions with our anemometer, we tend to offer four options where possible:
- Move the inflatable indoors – This may work if you have hired a suitable venue, but is very unlikely to be possible in a home setting.
- Move your booking to a different date – For some customers, changing the date is the easiest option, depending on availability.
- Change the equipment – We may be able to swap the inflatable for other party equipment that is less affected by high winds.
- Receive a full refund – If none of the other options work for you, we will offer a full refund. We don’t believe you should have to pay for a service you don’t receive.
