Indoor Height & Access Requirements

At Best Party Hire, indoor bookings are a great option — but only when the space is suitable. This page explains the minimum ceiling heights, door widths, and common indoor obstacles that must be considered before booking.

Minimum Ceiling Heights

Every inflatable has a minimum height requirement, which is clearly shown on the product page.

For an indoor setup to be suitable:

  • The ceiling height must be equal to or greater than the listed height

  • This includes all parts of the inflatable, such as turrets, arches, and roof sections

If the ceiling height is even slightly lower than required, the inflatable cannot be safely installed.

Important

Ceiling height should be measured:

  • From the finished floor level

  • To the lowest fixed point (not the highest part of the ceiling)

Always measure to the lowest point, not the centre of the room.

Door Widths & Access

Most of our inflatables will fit through a standard door without any issues.

However, larger items, such as fun runs or extended inflatables, may require:

  • Wider doorways

  • Clearer access routes

  • Fewer tight turns or narrow corridors

Because of this, door width and access are especially important when booking larger equipment.

What to Check Before Booking

Please consider:

  • Door width (including the frame)

  • Internal corridors or tight corners

  • Steps, thresholds, or changes in level

  • Any narrow access points from entrance to setup area

If equipment cannot be moved safely into the venue, we may be unable to proceed with setup.

Helpful Tip

If you’re booking a larger inflatable and are unsure about access:

  • Measure the narrowest doorway on the access route

  • Let us know which item you’re booking

  • Send photos if possible

We’re always happy to advise before booking to avoid issues on the day.

Beams, Lights & Ceiling Fixtures

Indoor venues often have obstacles that reduce usable height or space.

Please check for:

  • Low beams or cross-beams

  • Hanging or suspended light fittings

  • Ceiling fans

  • Heaters, pipes, or ducting

These are treated as height restrictions, even if the main ceiling is higher.

If any part of the inflatable’s required space conflicts with these fixtures, setup will not be possible.

Fire Exits & Fixed Features

Indoor setups must not:

  • Block fire exits

  • Obstruct emergency routes

  • Press against fixed features such as pillars or walls

The required space must remain completely clear at all times.

Measuring Before You Book

We strongly recommend measuring:

  • Ceiling height (to the lowest obstruction)

  • Door widths on the full access route

  • Clear floor space

If possible:

  • Take photos of the setup area

  • Note any fixed features or restrictions

You can send these to us before booking and we’ll happily advise.

Common Indoor Issues (Worth Double-Checking)

  • Sports hall roof beams

  • Village hall pendant lights

  • Low stage fronts

  • Narrow store-room doors used for access

  • Fold-down basketball hoops

These are some of the most common reasons indoor setups cannot go ahead.

Why These Checks Matter

These requirements exist to:

  • Keep children and guests safe

  • Prevent damage to venues and equipment

  • Ensure safe installation and removal

  • Comply with safety and insurance standards

If the venue does not meet these requirements on arrival and this has not been discussed in advance, we may be unable to proceed with setup and normal cancellation terms may apply.

Unsure If Your Venue Is Suitable?

If you’re not confident:
